Our Philosophy of Children’s Ministry

Here at Sovereign Grace Bible Church we believe that Children’s Ministry is established to come alongside parents to assist them in equipping their children. For that reason we strongly encourage parents to take an active role in the ministry, and not simply to drop off their children and expect the ministry to magically change their kids. Biblically, first and foremost, parents are mandated to raise their own children in the fear and knowledge of the Lord. Hence, no institution or organization should substitute God-given parental duty. We do, however, believe that it is a church’s duty to equip parents so that they can better equip their children with God’s life-transforming truth.

However, this in no way negates our church’s responsibility and mission in serving the children that the Lord sovereignly brings to us. For that reason we would like to put our premium on the following:

1. Have biblically qualified people (both with character and ability to teach) to influence our children. Hence, we do not treat our children or the people working in SGBC’s Children Ministry as second-class people or a second-class ministry.

2. Use the best God-exalting, God-glorifying, theologically-sound, Bible-saturated, parent-involved, and fun Sunday school curriculum. Hence, in the Fall of 2007, we launched Generations of Grace.
